{"id":113,"date":"2011-08-20T20:24:01","date_gmt":"2011-08-20T19:24:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fortyfivehours.co.uk\/?p=113"},"modified":"2011-08-20T20:26:07","modified_gmt":"2011-08-20T19:26:07","slug":"red-arrows-pilot-killed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.fortyfivehours.co.uk\/?p=113","title":{"rendered":"Red Arrows Pilot Killed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This story was just breaking as I left for my subsequently cancelled lesson.\u00a0\u00a0 We had it on the TV at the aero club while waiting for the rain to clear.<\/p>\n<p>The amateur video footage made me think it was highly unlikely anyone could have got out &#8211; but one of the guys there seemed to know more suggesting he&#8217;d ejected, a ray of hope at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly it has now been <a title=\"Red Arrows Pilot Tragically Killed in Crash\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-england-14602900\" target=\"_blank\">confirmed<\/a> that the pilot (Flt Lt Jon Egging) died in the crash.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m no expert, but from the footage I find it hard to believe it could have been anything but a mechanical failure of the plane.\u00a0\u00a0 The pilot is unquestionably one of the best in the business.<\/p>\n<p>All thoughts are with him and his family.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This story was just breaking as I left for my subsequently cancelled lesson.\u00a0\u00a0 We had it on the TV at the aero club while waiting for the rain to clear.
